Welcome to my blog!
I am a PhD student enrolled in the Law School of the University of Edinburgh. The subject of my thesis is Roman maritime law, and my aim is to locate the Roman rules in their social and economic context. To do this I not only need to get to grips with Roman law, but have my finger on the pulse of the commercial life of the ancient Mediterranean seaboard.
In the course of my research I have uncovered a wealth of fascinating material – and I intend to share it here with you! Whether it be the legal rules themselves, literary texts, archaeological fragments, inscriptions or papyri, there’s a whole world out there waiting to be uncovered. I hope you enjoy exploring it with me.
